Trump indicted in classified documents probe
Former President Donald Trump has been charged with seven counts for allegedly illegally keeping national defense information at his Palm Beach, Fla., home.
“My lawyers have been notified by the corrupt Biden administration that I have been indicted, seemingly for the Boxes hoax,” the former president wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The Justice Department has been investigating whether Mr. Trump violated the Espionage Act and obstructed justice over the discovery of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, home, the latest setback for his 2024 presidential bid.
The Justice Department has yet to comment on Mr. Trump’s claims, but reports say the former president faces seven charges in the case. He is scheduled to appear in federal court in Miami at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
The dramatic turn of events came after reports that Trump’s former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, had agreed to plead guilty to multiple federal charges.
