Who was James Arthell Gray, Sr.?

James Arthell Gray, Sr. was born and raised in East Ridge, TN. Mr. Gray’s business endeavors began early in life in which he held the following positions:  Vice President of Chattanooga Transportation Company, Yellow Cab, Checkered Cab, Jolly Cab, and Airport Limousine service (all of which his father Paul F. Gray, Sr. started in the 1950s) in Chattanooga until 1976.

He was the Founder of Carco Motor Company.  He started JAG Auto Sales in 1977 with his sons by his side and bought into Chattanooga Auto Salvage as a longtime co-owner.  Mr. Gray was co-owner of Verastar Auto Auction, Peerless Mills, one of the founding fathers and board members of Gateway Bank in Ringgold, GA, and co-owner of Island Cove Marina and Island Cove Outdoor Center.  Mr. Gray was also part of many real estate endeavors and enjoyed buying and selling vintage cars.
