Who was Dick West?
Commissioner and retired Chief West left an indelible mark on this organization and on many of those that served and still serve today. His decades of Fire Service contributions can be seen throughout the organization and he was an instrumental catalyst of who we are today. A visionary leader with a larger-than-life personality, he was the epitome of a leader that led from the front.
As a local, regional, and national leader, Chief/Commissioner West’s work has helped shape the Fire Service into a profession of integrity, duty, loyalty, and respect. Chief West’s legacy shall live in perpetuity through the physical structures he championed and the lives of the personnel and citizens he touched.
